Glenn Whitbread

Glenn WhitbreadBorn in Bulli, NSW, Glenn lived in the Illawarra area for thirty two years before moving his young family to Coolamon in South-western NSW; where he fulfilled his life-long dream to study art. This he did at the Riverina Murray Institute of Higher Education under the stewardship of Donald Laycock – who had a formative influence on Glenn's artistic career.

In 1987 Glenn was awarded a study scholarship from the Art Gallery of NSW and was booked for his first solo exhibition by The Holdsworth Galleries, Sydney, in 1990.

Today, Glenn’s paintings hang in numerous corporate, institutional and private collections. He is listed in Max Germaine’s  encyclopaedia’s, ‘ Artist’s and Galleries of Australia’ and also appears in,’ A Buyers Guide to Australian Art’ by Graham Ryles.

A landscape painter with a natural sense for colour, Glenn paints without hesitation using direct and lively brush-strokes.  His paintings retain a surface that holds the visual record of the artist’s bold intent.
